About UsVCPS is an associate member of the American Association for Paralegal Education, National Association of Legal Professionals, National Association of Legal Assistants, National Federation of Paralegal Associations and the Virginia Career College Association. VCPS is regulated by the State Council for Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). VCPS strives to prepare individuals for success in the legal field. Training programs and services were developed to train the student in legal theory & concepts, in practical applications and in personal development skills. VCPS looks to its Advisory Board to fulfill its educational philosophy. It is composed of individuals from the legal field and the local community. The general makeup comports with the American Bar Association (ABA) guidelines for approved paralegal programs. The overall purpose of the Advisory Board is to help the School improve and modernize the quality of instruction in the legal assistant program. It performs this duty by regular review of the needs of the program and the requirements of the legal community. You may view the list of current members by clicking here. The faculty/instructors are working lawyers, paralegals, and legal professionals. They teach you what you need to know as if you were working for them. Paralegals help you understand the job from the paralegal's point of view. This unique mixture of team teaching stems from the School’s institutional mission that is to provide legal training and practical skills. We take the practical approach so you know what to do when you get to the workplace. The administrative staff consists of Nicholas A. Pappas, Esquire, School Director & Director of Education, and Monica Sokolsky, Director of Admissions & Placement and Donna Howell, Bookkeeper, and three legal professional support staff members.
